Green Roof Protection Fabric

Green roof systems of this type are drained by a multi layer fabric mat called a drainage mat that combines soil separation drainage and protection functions.

Compared with green roofs systems using drainage plates or granular drainage this system is the fastest to install and creates the thinnest and lightest green roof assembly. The most common root barriers used are thin polyethylene sheets laid over the waterproofing membrane. Root barriers are often used in green roofs to provide some protection to the waterproofing from invasive stolons rhizomes and from woody roots from trees and shrubs. A green roof system consists of two major groups of components.

Green roof solutions protection mats are specially designed needle punched fleece constructed of 100 recycled polyester and polypropylene fibers. The 6 slotted triangle shape is used beneath the aggredrain layer and allows for water to flow freely. Our protection mats are multifunctional products which are compatible with multiple membranes for use as a first layer of protection on the waterproofing membrane or above the root barrier. These may not be required if the waterproof membrane is certified as root resistant.
